Proficient Kids is a method for teaching exercise to children ages 5-12. Based on the principle of Mechanics, Consistency and then Intensity, Proficient Kids emphasizes good movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement.

Proficient Kids is meant to be BIG fun, Broad-Inclusive-General fun. Fun means we provide an active alternative to sedentary pursuits, which means less childhood obesity and all-around better health for our children. Further, the program is scalable for any age or experience level and accounts for the varied maturation status one can find in a class full of kids. Proficient Kids is designed to be minimalist; it is inexpensive and often requires little or no equipment. For the most part no two workouts are the same, so kids never get bored and the novelty of each workout keeps them excited about participating.

The functional movements involve exercises that are fundamental to all things that kids need to do when they play – pull, push, run, throw, climb, lift and jump. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of thoroughly trained and professional Trainers.
When fitness is defined as broad, inclusive, and general it means that participants will become well-rounded athletes who will be better at any and every sport that they play. Proficient Kids workouts will increase physical competency in the 10 fitness domains: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.

Here at Proficient Kids we not only teach Fitness to be Fun we also encourage good Nutritional Values, Self Discipline and Manners, Goal Setting and Life Skills. We also nurture Teamwork, Good Sportsmanship, Leadership and Confidence. Which in turn will lead to life long health and a love for fitness.

Proficient Kids Classes run throughout the School Terms (no classes in School Holidays). They run for 30 mins, where we go through a Warm-Up specific to the Workout, learn or revise a new skill then Workout for about 10 mins, finishing off with a game and cool down stretch.
