Meet our February Member of the Month, Oakley!
She has been here from the beginning and it has been amazing to see her grow over the years! Oakley is a nursing student and takes her health and fitness very serious.
Take a moment to read her journey.
Q: How long have you been a member at Proficient?
A: I’ve been here since the start as a small 10 year old, started kids classes a few years later and joined the adults 6ish years ago, I was 14 or 15!
Q: What is your favourite thing about being a Proficient athlete?
A: The intesity of the workouts and exercising with friends.
Q: How would you describe the community at Proficient?
A: So so supportive.
Q: What advice do you have for someone who is intimidated by group fitness?
A: Bring a friend! Trying anything new is scary, but having someone with you makes it 10x easier.
Q: Favourite music to sweat to?
A: Love a bit of Grime.
Q: Least favourite music to sweat to?
A: Anything heavy metal.
Q: Favourite movement/workout?
A: I love the olympic lifts, wall balls and honestly I’m enjoying the bike more and more.
Q: Least favourite movement/workout?
A: Deadlifts and push ups.
Q: Is there a member of the Proficient Community that inspires and motivates you to be better?
A: Whenever I see Ash, Chris and Jaime booked into a class I get hyped! We all motivate each other.

A: 2019 version of me lol.
Q: Favourite post-workout meal?
A: In the mornings I alllllways have bacon and eggs after gym.
Q: What fitness-related goals do you have for 2023?
A: I’ve got nationals for indoor netball in Perth in September. Want to improve at running/endurance for that.
Q: Describe your athletic abilities in five words or less.
A: Uhhh, good intensity, no endurance haha.
Q: What’s your background story outside of Proficient?
A: I finish my Bachelor of nursing this year and work at the RAH as a nursing assistant while still doing support work for my disability clients here and there. And I just bought a house! Moving in this weekend 🙂
