Member of the Month – December

Meet our member of the month for December, Katie! From the day she started with us, she has been dedicated to her journey and challenging herself.

Take a moment to read her journey.

Q: How long have you been a member at Proficient?
A: Will be 8 months by the end of the week…time flies 🙂

Q: What is your favourite thing about being a Proficient athlete?
A: The varied and intense workouts challenge me both physically and mentally, leading to personal growth and a sense of accomplishment with each achievement. I do my best to push myself a little bit further each workout.

Q: How would you describe the community at Proficient? 
A: Proficient fosters a supportive environment where everyone encourages and motivates each other to push their limits and achieve their fitness goals. The strong sense of community makes workouts more enjoyable and helps create lasting friendships beyond the gym.

Q: What advice do you have for someone who is intimidated by group fitness?
A: I have been doing group fitness for over 8 years. It is for people of all strengths and abilities. I’ve reached the stage where I have to talk myself into taking some time off from the gym, rather than talk myself into going to the gym.

Q: Favourite music to sweat to?
A: Right now…The Chemical Brothers

Q: Least favourite music to sweat to?
A: Anything too slow

Q: Favourite movement/workout?
A: I love cardio, running, the bike, wall balls, thrusters, burpees, anything hat gets the heart rate going.

Q: Least favourite movement/workout?
A: Squats and snatches!

Q: Is there a member of the Proficient Community that inspires and motivates you to be better?
A: The coaches provide me with so much inspiration, help and advice…and patience! 🙂 There are too many members to mention but there are so many that are extremely talented and motivate me to do my best.

Q: Is there a member of the Proficient community that needs to know you are coming for them? Feel free to put them on notice!
A: Probably the opposite – after all the years of supporting me in my fitness journey my husband recently took the leap and started in the box himself to see what all the fuss is about! Now he is coming after me but I couldn’t be more proud of him!

Q: Favourite post-workout meal?
A:  Porridge and strawberries!

Q: What fitness-related goals do you have for 2024?
A: Build my 5km run time, improve double-unders and box jumps. I would also like to pay more attention to my mobility.

Q: Describe your athletic abilities in five words or less.
A: Turning up – even at 5am!

Q: What’s your background story outside of Proficient? 
A: I work full-time in a marketing and communications role and have a husband and three wonderful children that keep me very busy! I also love swimming if anyone ever wants to go for a few laps with me, let me know 🙂
